Dentistry for Dentures.

Dentures are artificial teeth placed by a dentist for patients who have lost teeth due to tooth extractions for cavity treatment, loose teeth from gum disease, or other cases such as broken or cracked teeth. Wearing dentures to replace lost teeth helps solve issues with eating, speaking clearly, and boosting confidence. Dentures also support the cheeks and lips, preventing sagging. There are two types of dentures:

1) Removable dentures: These are dentures designed for individuals who still have some natural teeth remaining. They are partial dentures that can be removed for cleaning. Removable dentures are classified into two types: metal-frame dentures and plastic-base dentures.

2) Fixed dentures: Fixed dentures are considered permanent dentures that are securely attached in the mouth, relying on adjacent natural teeth to anchor the dentures in place. This involves creating crowns that are fixed onto the natural teeth. Patients cannot remove these dentures for cleaning outside the mouth. There are two types:

2.1) Fixed dentures with a dental bridge: This involves attaching artificial teeth (dentures) to the adjacent natural teeth next to the missing tooth, effectively replacing the gap between the teeth. It resembles a bridge connecting the missing tooth to the surrounding teeth.

2.2) Fixed dentures with dental implants: This involves replacing the lost tooth by implanting a titanium dental root into the jawbone. The artificial tooth is then attached to the implant using a resin-based tooth structure, allowing it to function like a natural tooth for chewing and performing all the functions of a real tooth.
